Obituary of Nancy M. Humphrey

Nancy Marie Humphrey, of Moncton, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 10, 2006. Born in Saint John, NB March 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Margaret M. (Beck) Davis. Nancy in her youth was a former singer and sang with 'Ten Guys and a Gal'. She was an active member of Holy Family Parish and a member of the Parish CWL. Active in her community, she was a Kinnette, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a founding member of the Moncton Crime Stoppers. Nancy served as a School Board Trustee from 1971 - 1986 and served as its Chairman for a 2 year term. It was while serving on the School Board, she was instrumental in introducing French Immersion to the local schools. She was a recipient of the 125th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada Medal, which honours Canadians for their commitment to their communities. She is survived by her husband D. C. 'Don' Humphrey, children Holly Ann Humphrey (John Wigmore) of Moncton, John Garrett Humphrey (Siobhan) of Edmonton, Ab; Jay Curtis Humphrey (Martine) of Ottawa and Hilary Jane Humphrey of Ottawa; four grandchildren Caroline, Katherine, Harrison and Jack; two sisters Elinor Dysart of Moncton and Faith Richard (Johnnie) of Ottawa; two brothers Jack Davis (Pauline) of Moncton and Tom Davis (Maureen) of Halifax and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a daughter Hope Elizabeth Humphrey and a brother Darrell Davis. Visitation will be at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Lutz St. Moncton on Monday, March 13, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 11:00 am with Fr. Jeff Doucette officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Nancy's memory made to the MS Society or to the Moncton Hospital or Dr. George Dumont Hospital Foundations would be appreciated by her family.
