Obituary of John McWhirter

On December 25, 2005 John (Jack) McWhirter passed away at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the one remaining member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents David and Jessie (Campbell) McWhirter, formerly of Riverview, NB. Relatives and friends will sadly miss Jack's friendly outlook and interest for others. He was a lifetime honorary member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, having retired from the CN Railway as a Locomotive Engineer. Jack was very successfully involved as a coach and player developer with the Riverview Minor Hockey Association. He was a member of St. John's United Church in Moncton. Jack had recently been presented with his 50 year membership certificate with the Coverdale Lodge # 52 F & AM. Prior to the Memorial Service, Coverdale Lodge #52 will conduct a Masonic Service at the Tuttle Bros. Chapel, Monday, January 16, 2006 at 1:30 pm. The Memorial Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, the Moncton Kinsmen Special Care Home, The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the St. John's United Church Mission Fund.
