Obituary of Donalda Margaret Pendergast

Donalda Margaret Pendergast, of Riverview, passed away peacefully, at Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton on Friday, August 29, 2008. Born in Glenfinnan, PEI, she was the daughter of the late J W and Katie (Fraser) MacDonald. Donalda was a life long teacher who dedicated her life to education. She taught in numerous schools in three provinces. She worked as a screener at the Irlen Institute of Canada and was a avid member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Donalda was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Riverview. She also volunteered and taught at the Catholic Information Center in Moncton. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Edward Pendergast, children John of Halifax, Liz (Paul Shaw) of Stratford, PEI, Donald of Charlottetown, PEI and Katherine of Wellington PEI. She was a loving Nannie to Jared, Erin, Madeline, Emily and Robyn. Also survived by sisters and brothers Sr. Wanda MacDonald, CSM, of Corran Ban PEI, Sr. Katherine MacDonald, CSM of Mount St. Mary's, PE, Anna (Richard Duffy) MacDonald of Newton, Mass, Genevieve (Carl) MacDonald, of Glenfinnan, PEI, Etta Anderson of Charlottetown, PEI, John A (Mona ) MacDonald of Nepean ON, brother-in-law Donald MacLellan, of Indian River PEI, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Donalda was predeceased by son Fraser (in infancy), sister Elinor MacLellan, brothers-in-law George Anderson and Louis MacDonald. Visitation will be held at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd, Riverview, NB, Sunday August 31, 2008 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and at Hennessey Cutcliffe Funeral Home, 35 Longworth Ave., Charlottetown, PEI on Monday September 1, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Fort Augustus, PEI on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 10:30 am with Fr. Art Pendergast officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fort Augustus, PEI. Donations made to The NB Kidney Foundation or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
