Obituary of Donald Lea "Don" Harris

Donald L."Don" Harris, 77, of Moncton, passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Born in Williamsburg, NB; he was the son of the late Lee and Gertrude (Turnbull) Harris. He was a member of Humphrey Memorial United Church and a former member of the church choir. He was a member of Acacia Lodge # 49 F & AM; a 32' member of Scottish Rite, the Moncton Shrine Club and a member of the Luxor Shrine Oriental Band. A avid sportsman, he was a member of Lakeside Golf Club, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Miramichi with his grandchildren. In his youth, he was a member of the Army Engineers Corp. Don was retired from the CNR, Signals and Communication Dept. with forty years of service. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian I. Harris; one daughter C. Diane MacLeod (John) of Mississauga, On; one son David Harris (Louise McKenna) of Gillis Lake, Cape Breton; three grandchildren Andrew Harris of Hong Kong, Ian MacLeod of Toronto and Jamie MacLeod of Pulman , Washington, USA; one sister Dorothy O'Blenis (Everett) of Salisbury; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased his grandson Jeremy Harris. Visitation is at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton on Friday, October 12, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Humphrey Memorial United Church, Massey Ave. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Gayle MacDonald officiating. Acacia Lodge is holding a Masonic service Friday evening at 7:00pm at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery Donations in Don's memory made to the Jeremy Harris Living Library, L'Arche Cape Breton, Whycocomagh, NS B0E 3M0 or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by his family.
