Obituary of Alcide Joseph Allain
Alcide J. Allain, 88, of Moncton, passed away at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital Thursday, January 15, 2009. Born in St. Antoine, he was the son of the late Pierre and Marie Anne (Caissie) Allain. He was a member of Notre Dame de la Paix Parish , Murphy Ave. Moncton. He was a veteran of W.W. II having served with the Royal Canadian Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Br. # 6 , The Knights of Columbus Council 11985 and the Club D' Age D'Or Notre Dame de la Paix.
Alcide was a retired contractor, he was the founder and former owner of A.J. Allain & Sons, which is still operated by his family today.
He is survived by his 2nd wife, Laura (Melanson) LeBlanc Allain, three daughters Jeannette Lewis (Ronald) of Riverview, Pauline Allain (Richard Flanagan) of Riverside-Albert and Diana Allain (Jacques Marie Collette) of Moncton, two sons Guy Allain (Cecile) of Moncton and Raymond Allain (Faye) of Caissie Cape; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother Norman Allain of Terrebonne, PQ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his 1st wife Edith (Arsenault) Allain in 1987; also by three sisters Madeline Bourque, Rev. Sr. Eva Allain and Sara Girouard and by six brothers Gerard, Fidele, Antoine, Arsene, Desire and Paul Allain.
Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home Lutz St. Moncton with visitation on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 Moncton will be conducting a veteran’s service at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 3:45pm.
The funeral mass will be held at Notre Dame de la Paix Church, Murphy St. Moncton on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 10:30am with Fr. Alban Thibodeau officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Antoine Cemetery in the spring.
Donations in Alcide’s memory made to Dr. George L. Dumont Foundation "Dialysis Unit" or to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
