Obituary of Geraldine "Gerry" Hicks

Geraldine "Gerry" Hicks, age 88, formerly of People's Park Tower, passed away at ProTem Health Services, Moncton, on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Born in Lewisville, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Beatrice Melanson. After raising 6 children, Gerry returned to the workforce and was employed by the Catholic Information Center, she was an avid Bridge Player and loved travelling and wintering in Florida with her husband Hollis. She was a veteran of WW II having served with C.W.C.A. and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and for over 50 years a member of St. Michael's CWL. A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 66 years Hollis R. Hicks; her four daughters; Linda Small (Mel) of Moncton, Anne Somers (Rob) of Dartmouth, Patty Kearns (Mike) of Moncton and Jill Esson (Darren) of Notre Dame; her two sons; Peter (Ruth) and Michael (Lois) all of Riverview, eleven grandchildren: Troy (Denise), Heather (Mike), Kristi (Julian), Devin, Michaela, Amanda, Robyn, Monika, Sam, Madison and MacKenzie; great grandchildren Chantelle, Owen, Daley and Dash; her sister: Madeline Dollemont of Sudbury, ON; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two brothers: Ralph and Aubrey Melanson. Resting at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. with visitation on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Parish Prayers and sharing of memories will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening at 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fatima Dr. Riverview, on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 am with Fr. Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Gerry's memory made to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by her family.
