Obituary of Mary Sadie Chase
Sadie Chase, 94, of Kenneth E. Spencer Home, passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Born in Middle Cape, Cape Breton; she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Elizabeth (Campbell) MacDonald. In her earlier years Sadie spent some time with her aunt living and working in New York City, NY. before returning home where she later married and moved to the Moncton area following the Second World War.
For several years in the 1960's - 1970's, she worked at the Salvation Army Eventide Home for Men and also had worked for District 15 School Board Office. She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish, Moncton.
She loved her family for whom she made many sacrifices throughout the years. Her kindness and concern for others was extended to friends and neighbours with whom like family she enjoyed spending time. One of her pleasures in life was "a good cup of tea".
She also enjoyed family get-togethers, family pets, knitting, crocheting, music, TV, reading, travelling and spending time close to soothing waters.
She will be sadly missed by her son George Chase (Alice) Pickering, On; her daughters Betty Burton (Rick) of Devon, AB. Patricia McDonald (Gordon) of Hamilton, ON. and Brenda Bleakney (Dennis) of Moncton; fourteen grandchildren Lisa, Karen and Brian, Shayne, Craig and Darren, Shawn, Matthew, Patrick and Jacob, Kerri Anne and Christopher, Jennifer and Jonathan; seven great grandchildren; a sister Agnes Wilson (Patrick) of Burlington, ON; a brother George MacDonald (Brenda) of Toronto; as well as several nieces, nephews and by her special long-time friend Anne Surette.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband George Frederick Chase in 1986; her daughter Peggy LeBlanc 2010; and by her siblings Jessie, Mary and Kaye, Peter, Angus, Donald and Michael.
Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton with visitation on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's Church on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11:00 am with Father Allison Carroll officiating.
Donations in Sadie's memory made to the NB Lung Association, St. Bernard's Church Elevator Fund or to the Spencer Home Foundation would be appreciated.
Interment at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
