Obituary of Glendon Moffatt Atkinson

Glendon M. Atkinson, of Riverview,NB passed away of a brief illness at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday January 16, 2006. Born in Plaster Rock, NB he was the son of the late St. Clair and Jessie (MacKellar) Atkinson. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 1980 after many years service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, within the church he was a past president of the mens club, a member of the vestry and a warden. He was a member of the Diocesan Synod in Fredericton, a member of the Albert Co. Action Aid, he was an honorary past president of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association, also he was involved within the masonic order in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He is survived by his daughter Jane and her husband Bert Collicutt of Grand Barachois; son Donal Atkinson of Calgary AB; grandson Michael Collicutt of Moncton; grand daughter Katherine Collicutt and her husband Benoit Lahaie and their son Jaz of Halifax; sister Bettie and her husband John Hall of Mississauga, ON; niece Janice and her husband Paul Haars of Toronto, ON and their sons Andrew and Fraser; also by many friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Hazel (Saunders) Atkinson in 2004. At his request there will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church on Friday January 20, 2006 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Albert Snelgrove officiating. There will be a reception following the service. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Glen's memory, donations made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Geriatrics unit, The St. John the Baptsit Anglican Church or to the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated.
