Obituary of Jean Joyce

Jean Joyce, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Born in St. John's NL on August 2, 1925 she was the daughter of the late George and Maria (Rockwood) Hillier. Jean was a resident of Moncton for the past 43 years, and worked at Co-op Atlantic until her retirement. She was a member of Mount Royal United Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Jean was an avid and successful bridge player and an active member of Beta Sigma Phi. She volunteered regularly at the Karing Kitchen and had many happy times at the Officers Mess. Also, she was a member of the Community Concert Association. She leaves to mourn her daughters Carol Joyce (Jim Carscadden) of St. Phillips, NL, and Liz Joyce (Kerry DeLorey) of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Elizabeth Carscadden and Alexander DeLorey; sisters Thelma Linegar and Libby Hogan both of St. John's NL and Caroline Dreluch of Montreal; brother George (JaneMarie) of Wisconsin; as well as many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband George in 2008; son Randy in 1994; sister Bobby Hillier and brother John Hillier. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm & 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at The Mount Royal United Church on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brett Anningson and Rev. Ron Maund officiating. The family wish to thank Dr. Chesser and Dr. Rubin for the care given to our mother over the years, also the staff of 4600 and Dr. Murphy for the wonderful care given throughout her recent illness. Donations made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Mount Royal United Church or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
