Obituary of Marshall James Nickerson

Marshall James Nickerson, of Royal Court in Riverview and formerly of Paturel St. Shediac, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Born in Port Saxon, NS; Shelburne Co., he was the son of the late Percy and Jenny (nee Greenwood) Nickerson. Marshall was an adherent of Trinity United Church and in his early years he attended St. John's United Church. He was a retired Professional Engineer having worked with the CNR Engineer Dept. Marshall was the Engineer in charge of the building of the Moncton Hump Yard. He enjoyed lawn bowling and boating while living in Shediac. He was a former member of the William Ling Lawn Bowling Club , Past President of the MCA and he was a member of Association of Professional Engineers. Marshall was a veteran of WWII, having served from 1942 to 1946 with the Royal Canadian Army 23rd Field Company Royal Canadian Engineers. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Judy and her husband John Baxter of Shediac Cape, NB and Bethleham IN. USA; his grand daughters Kelleah (Barry) Fulmer, New Albany IN; and Krista (Robert) Hynes, Louisville, KY; great-grand daughters Ashley LeAnn Fulmer and Emily Nicole Hynes and his great grandson John Robert Baxter Fulmer. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Florence (nee Trask) Nickerson in 2004 and by his grandson John W.A. Baxter in 2008. A memorial service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. The Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association will hold a Veterans Service Thursday, October 16, 2008 ay 1:45 pm. The Family will be receiving relatives and friends in the reception area of the funeral home immediately following the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Shediac, NB.
