Obituary of Laurie "Junior" Betts

Laurie "Junior" Betts of Riverview, NB passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 05, 2023 at the age of 76. Born in Riverside Albert, NB he was a son of the late Laurie and Dorothy Betts. Laurie was a building inspector with the city of Moncton for 5 years and 30 years with the Province of New Brunswick, NB Housing. Junior served with the Moncton Boxing and Wrestling Commission for 11 years, he also served on the Board of St. Pat's Family Center; Past President of The NB Building Officials Assocation; former coach of Moncton Minor hockey and Minor Baseball and a volunteer for NB Heart & Stroke Foundation as well as the Canadian Cancer Society. Laurie loved hunting and fishing at the Caledonia Hilton Camp, Caledonia Mountain. Survived by son, Trevor Betts (Stephanie) of Summerside, PEI; his daughter, Jennifer Betts of Riverview, NB; grandchildren, Sophie, Chloe, Ella and Will; brothers, Doug (Betty) Betts of Moncton and Ronald Betts of Moncton, several lifelong friends and the gang at Storms. In addition to his parents he was predeceased his wife of 45 years, Judith Anne "Judy" Betts and by two brothers, Curtis and James. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10th , 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm The Funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:00pm with Barbara Hare officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Hill Cemetery. Donations in Junior's memory made to the Friends of Moncton Hospital Palliative care unit would be appreciated by the family.
