Obituary of Nora Harpell

On Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, Nora Harpell, 87 years, left her home in Lower Coverdale for her eternal home in Heaven. She was the daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Fry) Adsett. She worked for the Government of Canada in Public Service – retiring after 35 years of service. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Piermont "Prem" Harpell in 1994; sisters Nellie Adsett and Evelyn Carter; brothers Lawrence Adsett and Eric Adsett. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Nora enjoyed her home where she derived much pleasure from watching and feeding wild birds. She will be remembered by many for her tremendous love for animals – especially cats – her cat Muffie in particular. Siamese or strays, she loved and fed them all. An avid reader, she was always sharing books with family and friends. She loved driving her big blue Oldsmobile which she loving referred to as Betsie. Nora deeply appreciated her friends and wonderful neighbours whose support and many kindnesses made it possible for her to stay in her own home. Visitation will be held at The Riverview Funeral Home on Sunday January 1, 2012 from 7:00pm- 9:00pm. Her funeral service will be held at The Riverview Funeral Home Chapel, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, on Monday January 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Horsman officiating. Donations in Nora's memory made to the Hillsborough Baptist Church or the Gideon's would be appreciated.
