Obituary of Norman P. Thornton
Norman P. Thornton, of Moncton,NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 3, 2006 at the age of 77 years.
Born in North Devon (now known as Fredericton North) on March 18, 1928. He was the son of the late Alonzo R. and Agnes (Stairs) Thornton.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a Pharmacist for 45 years, 20 years in his native area of Fredericton, and 25 years on Monctons St. George Blvd.
Norm enjoyed serious or "Crazy Conversation" with the people he met at work, on the streets and in various shops in the city. He enjoyed brisk walks, babies, cats and listening to the music of his generation, reading, and a tripple of scotch or brandy.
He is survived by his sister in law Jean Davidson of Kirkintilloch Scotland, three nieces, five nephews, also by kind friends Simonne Gilby and her husband Boyd "she was the daughter I never had", Anne Marie & Gerry, Nancy & Todd, Sherri Lee, Carol, and Pauline.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Davidson) in 1996 imported from "the wee bit of scottish heaven for me in 1961"; brother Eugene "Hughie"; sister Marguerite "Peg" Doherty, brother in law George Davidson.
At his request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place at TBL Crematorium.
Interment will be in The Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
