Obituary of Ralph Orrin Downey

Ralph Orrin Downey formerly of Crystal Drive, Riverview passed away at The Veterans Health Center, Moncton on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Born in Hartland, NB on June 5, 1915 he was the son of the late John and Alice (Bryant) Downey. Ralph was retired from Co-op Building Supplies. He was a member of The Riverview Baptist Church, and a former secretary treasurer of the church. He was Past Master & Charter Officer of the Coverdale Lodge #52 F. & A.M.; past first principal of the Botsford Chapter #7; Past Grand Superintendent Grand Chapter Royal Arch of Masons Preceptory and Shrine, and a member of the O.E.S. # 36. He was a veteran of WWII and served with the 5th Field Regiment Artillary R.C.A. in United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6; secretary treasurer of Bayview Cemetery in Harvey, NB; also he was a member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. He is survived by his extended family Mel and Grace MacNeill of Riverview, NB and Don Trafford of Florenceville, NB. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Steeves) Downey on July of 1982. Resting at The Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Br#6 together with the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association will be holding a prayer service at the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 6:30pm, followed by a service held by the Coverdale Lodge #52 F. & A. M. at 6:45pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jonathan Gorham officiating. Interment will be in Bayview Cemetery.
