Obituary of Raymond Arthur Jackson
Raymond A. Jackson, 89, of War Veterans Ave in Moncton and formerly of 210 Wedgewood Ave. Riverview, passed away at Veterans Health Care Centre in Moncton on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Born in Tidnish, NS he was the son of the late Ira Kirby Jackson and Della (Allen). Before his retirement, Raymond was the former owner the Jackson Save Easy on Pine Glen Rd. Riverview. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Cleveland Ave. where he was an active member of the St. Paul's fund raising committee. He was a charter member of the Riverview Lions and he was a member and former trustee of the Knights of Pythias. Raymond was a veteran and served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy, he was also a member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association.
He is survived by his daughter Virginia Malchow (Larry) of Whitehorse, Yukon; his sons Glenn Jackson (Barb) of Saskatoon, SK. and Art Jackson (Joan) of Calgary AB; seven grandchildren Pamela, Patty, Judy, Clayton, Andrea, Kristin and Amanda; six great grandchildren; two sisters Gweneth Embree and Barbara Jackson both of Lorneville, NS; as well as nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Genevieve (Greeno) Jackson in 1998 and by his brother Noel Jackson.
Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Monday January 19, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, Cleveland Ave. in Riverview on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steve Berube officiating.
The Riverview Veterans will conduct a veterans service at St. Paul's United Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1:30pm.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish Bridge, NS in the spring.
Donations in Raymond's memory made to the Diabetic Association or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
