Obituary of Kevin Shannon
Shannon, Kevin
February 2 1959 – October 12 2023
It is with great sadness that Rhonda and Kevin’s family announce he passed at the Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on October 12, 2023. Kevin wholly appreciated all those who visited in the last few weeks. He faced many challenges in life but this last battle with cancer was aggressive and brief. Kevin passed peacefully with niece Heather Beck, holding his hand.
Kevin’s 37-year career in the Military had him stationed in several places, most recently Saint John, NB. A nearly fatal ATV accident, during a training exercise, resulted in his early retirement from the Military. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as a MSE. Op.
Over the years, he enjoyed woodworking and honed his skills to complete extensive woodworking projects in home renovations, restoring furniture and building cabinets. In more recent years, he and Rhonda enjoyed their menagerie of dogs, cats, and horses.
For over the past 4 years, Kevin has been supporting a young Nigerian girl, Teniola Isreal, while she pursued her undergrad.
Kevin attended Harvey Baptist Church when able and listened to a weekly podcast of services from Grangeville United Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Legere.
Kevin is survived by his wife Rhonda Smalley and her daughter Erica Small-Coffee (Justin). Also left to mourn are brothers Bob Leblanc (Claudette), Wally Shannon (Linda), Rick Shannon, Willis Carson (Lorie Ann), and Darrell Carson and sisters Bev Beck (Reid) and Stacey Butler (Tim). Brother-in-law Darren Church, sister-in-law Sherrill Lewis (Reg), numerous nieces and nephews, and his fur-babies.
He was predeceased by his father Patrick Shannon, his mother Jennie Lebreton and brother Brett Carson.
