Obituary of Mildred Rebecca Weir
Mildred “Millie” R. Weir, 77 of Colpitts Settlement, surrounded by the love of her family went to be with her loving husband Lloyd Weir at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Born in Advocate, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Norby and Marjorie (Hughes) Dowe.
Millie worked several years of her life withing the education system and was an in-home Health Care worker. Before moving to New Brunswick; she helped oversee the operations for Russell Hopper’s Well Drilling Company (1970’s). She volunteered with Saint John Ambulance in Salisbury and Petitcodiac, Air Cadets in Salisbury, Lioness for over 40 years and always found time to help anyone that needed assistance. Millie loved to play cards and loved to dominate anyone that would have a good game of “Crib” with her.
Millie will be sadly missed by her loving children, Vincent Weir (Michelle) of Trenton, ON and Betty Weir (Steph) of Colpitts Settlement; cherished grandchildren, Morgan Gillette Weir (Brandon) and Kyle Weir, Madison Duffy (Kamil) and Hailey Duffy (Brandon); brother, Gerald Dowe (Lois) of Hope, BC; sister-in-law, Eddie Dowe of Trenton, ON; special nephew, John Ross; many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Millie was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Weir (Feb. 27, 2002); brothers, Wyman and Ronald; sisters, Alice, Irene, Mary and Dorothy; brothers-in-law, Clark Corbin and Glenn Weir.
Family Graveside Service to be held at Hillside Cemetery, Albert Co. at a later date.
