Today we remember Whitney Joan Townsend who passed away, unexpectedly, on September 16th 2024 at 26 years old.
Whitney is survived by their parents Micheal Townsend and Racheal Maillet. Their sister Jessica Steeves and several aunts, uncles and cousins. As well as their beloved pets.
Whitney was born April 25 1997 in Moncton, New Brunswick. They graduated from Moncton High School and went on to pursue sciences and veterinary technology in further education.
Whitney found their purpose caring for animals, animal education, and sales. Whitney had a passion for all animals, especially cats. They loved music and often referred to it as their ‘therapy’. They played the ukulele and guitar, sang covers of favorite songs, and enjoyed playing video games. Whitney was part of the queer community and held a safe space for those who needed it. They were an advocate for mental health and social justice both being close to home.
Whitney was a caring and compassionate person, a loyal friend, and ally. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, September 24th 2024 for family and close friends.
I will leave you with one of their favorite quotes, “There is no wrong way to exist”.
