Obituary of Lucille Jeanette Mercier
Lucille Jeanette Mercier of Villa du Repos in Moncton NB passed away at her residence on November 14th at the age of 94.
Born in December on Friday the 13th, 1929 in Memramcook, she was the daughter of the late Adia and Jeanne (Auffrey) Cormier.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Claire (JP) Grondin, two sons, Maurice (Nancy) and Rick; grandchildren Amos, Naomi, Benjamin, Philip, Jennifer, Cassandra, Mathieu, Alicia, Kelly and 9 great grandchildren, Ezra, Abram, Olive, Kayla, Nikka, Makyah, Raelyn, Ellie, Lana, Son in Law Jack Didychuk, Daughter in Law Sandra Mercier and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel; her daughter Christine Didychuk and son, Martin; 4 sisters, Victorine, Bernadette, Angela and Lorraine; 2 brothers, Gerard and Ronald.
Mom worked at Eatons in her early years. She rejoined the workforce with Metropolitan Life where she retired. Mom was very active, still driving and living alone until she had a stroke in October 2016. Mom travelled a lot and was at most nieces and nephew’s weddings. Mom was a gifted seamstress, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making beautiful quilts, bowling, dancing at the Legion and playing darts. She also was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Mom had enjoyed her daily phone calls with her sister Lorraine. She also enjoyed her cards and phone calls from Doreen Gaskin, who where still friends and graduated from Moncton High School in 1948.
We wish to thank all the staff at Villa du Repos, especially those from the 800 wing, where she lived for over 7 years, for your excellent care and kindness.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544) on Friday, November 22, 2024 between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm and also 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Fergusons Riverview Community Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 am with Rev. Deacon Andre Deveaux. The Service will also be livestreamed. Interment will be held in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Spring.
