Obituary of Marilyn Joanalda Jarvis

Marilyn Joanalda Jarvis (Crocker), 90, of Moncton, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. Marilyn was born to the late Helen Crocker (Somerville) and Jack Crocker of Moncton. She was married to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, the late Bill Jarvis, for 68 years. She is predeceased by her siblings Shirley Carlson, Betty Lumsden and James Crocker. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her loving children: four daughters: Patty McMurray (David) of Riverview, Judy Belliveau (Frank) of Moncton, Susan Savoie (aka Suzanne) (Frank) of Riverview, Jennifer McBeath-Dooley (Bill) of Moncton; five sons: William Jr. of Ontario, Robert (Kathy) of Regina, Ted (Kath) of ON, Jeff of Moncton and Jamie (Jennifer) of Saint John. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, June, Cathy, Sandra, Janet, Matthew and Robert. She will be affectionately remembered as "Nanny J" by twenty one grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Marilyn was a proud Moncton High Purple Knight from the class of ’50. She went on to become a RNA and turned her sights toward management of the Moncton Hospital Housekeeping Services, the Hotel Beausejour Housekeeping Department, and the Head of Housekeeping at Centracare, in Saint John. Marilyn was also a teacher of Life Skills at NBCC. Her wisdom and sound advice positively impacted the lives of many. Marilyn was gifted with many talents; including her ability to play the piano and cello, quilting, knitting, sewing, painting, and fly-tying. She enjoyed countless hours reading and attending her beloved book club where she was never afraid to voice her opinions. Mom could complete the New York Times crossword in pen with few scratches; a feat many have envied. Mom’s love and affection for her dogs was unmeasurable. But Mom was never happier than when she was cutting up the dance floor with Dad or fishing with him on the Miramichi River; these love birds could be spotted portaging their canoe as they searched for the perfect spot to cast their lines. Mom, we will remember you for your wit, your dry sense of humour, political opinions, your ceaseless creativity, and your cherished wisdom. Indeed, Marilyn (Mavis) will be remembered for the way she loved each of us; uniquely and deeply. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Spencer’s Home.
