Uncle Bliss was a very interesting character. He was a clever and particular DIY man. He was widely read and could keep you riveted with stories of places he'd been, and experiences he'd had. In his later years Uncle Bliss became quite difficult to understand, but if you put in the effort, you were rewarded with a fascinating tale you'd never heard before. He was a good man, an honest man, slow to anger, and genuinely interested in other folk's conversation. Uncle Bliss and Aunt Beryl shared a strong and loving life together, and I'm pretty sure his even temperment was a fine addition to her sometimes firey-spirit. Though we didn't have a close relationship, I was always interested in their life stories and experiences. They lived life on their own terms, and when I was a wee boy they seemed like the cool couple who had cool stuff that I could borrow, not take care of, and get a vigorous lecture from Aunt Beryl for it when I finally returned it. I miss them both.
