Obituary of Alexander B. Forgeron
Sandy Forgeron, age 78, of Moncton, passed away with his family at his side on January 23, 2022.
Sandy was born and raised in Main-A-Dieu, Cape Breton (a small fishing community that he always called 'home'); son of the late Ambrose and Eunice Forgeron.
At a young age, Sandy fished and developed a lifetime passion for boating and being on the ocean.
Sandy was a skilled athlete. His hockey talent paralleled with NHL prospects in the late 1950's. Although not drafted, Howie Meeker (then part of the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff) did have interest and had travelled to Cape Breton to see Sandy play.
Sandy married the love of his life (Mary Harris) in 1965 and moved to Moncton that same year.
Sandy worked primarily as a project manager at Transport Canada and Nav Canada, for a combined 29 years.
Sandy was a member of the Saint Bernard's Parish. As a member of the church choir, parishioners enjoyed his beautiful/powerful singing voice. His solos were a treat for all.
Sandy coached his sons' hockey teams throughout the 1970's and 1980's. Many players that were coached by Sandy would say "best coach I ever had".
Sandy had a great passion for the game of golf. He was a lifetime member of Country Meadows Golf Club, where he hung his hat on the 'Club Championship' trophy numerous times.
Sandy was a member of the "Barbershop Chorus", and two Barber Shop Quartets ("Gale Force" and "Just for Harmony").
Sandy had an endless count of great friends. He was recognized by all as an honorable person, carrying a reputation for having a high level of ethical principles and integrity.
Sandy was righteous with a foundation of core values centered on family, faith, respect, accountability, loyalty, courage, pride...and commitment.
Sandy was a jack of all trades and was always willing to help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return.
He loved to tell stories…and his stories!...how to make a long story, longer!! :-).
He had an endless love for all his family, especially his sons and grandchildren.
Sandy, Dad, Poppy...you will ‘forever’ remain in our hearts. Rest in peace.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife (Mary) of 56 years (an everlasting love and bond); three Sons, Darren (Tradina), Dana (Pina) and Deane; nine grandchildren; sister, Charlotte (Keith); three brothers, Roy (Rose-Marie), Sid (Frances) and Bill (Audie); as well as many nieces and nephews.
