Obituary of Barbara L. Smith

Barbara L. Smith, 83 years, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Born in Baddeck, NS. on May 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Anne (Rodway) Spence. Barbara was retired from the Department of External Affairs; postings included Moscow, Tokyo and Accra, Ghana. She was an avid reader of biographies, enjoyed traveling and was a great piano player in her younger years. She is survived by three sons Douglas (Karen), Duncan ( Karen) and Alex (Rhonda Cobbs); six grandchildren Angela(Brad), Matthew (Julie), Kaitlin, Lindsay, Marshall and Trevor. Barbara was also predeceased by step mother Alfreda Spence and one sister Elizabeth Baptist. There is no visitation at the Funeral Home. There will be a private family service held at a later date. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to: The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Curryville Community Outreach Centre Inc. ( 734-3992 or 734-2930).
