Obituary of Frances Elizabeth "Betty" Steeves

Betty Steeves of Royal Court, Riverview, passed away at The Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Born in Moncton, NB on December 31, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl (McHugh) Melanson. She was a parishioner at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church and a member of the CWL within the church. Betty retired from Cy's Seafood Restaurant in 1986 after many years as office manager. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt she will be forever remembered by her daughters Margaret (Mark) Kennedy of Ottawa, ON, Mary Ellen Bailey of Quispamsis, and Marlene (Keith) Pellerin of Dieppe; son Michael (Heather) Steeves of Riverview; grandchildren David, James, Sean, Shannon, Carl, Matthew S., Geoffrey, Larissa, Meaghan, Alyson, and Matthew P.; great grandson Graeson; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" A. Steeves in 1981; sister Margaret Hay; brother Forein Melanson. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00pm & 7:00 - 9:00pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home Friday evening at 8:30pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 am celebrated by Father Yvon Arsenault and concelebrated by Father Allison Carroll. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring. In Betty's memory, donations made to NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Osteoporosis Association would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Bros.
