Obituary of Phyllis Elizabeth Pinder

Phyllis Elizabeth Pinder, born April 6, 1915 in Perth, NB, died March 11, 2007 at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB. Phyllis was the only daughter of Hayden H Inman and Elizabeth Chapman Inman. Phyllis moved to Moncton early in her married life, and, together with her husband Les, enjoyed curling, golf and bridge with lifelong friends. Curling was her specialty, and she skipped the NB Provincial team twice at the National competitions and won the Moncton City Women’s trophy several times (MCA). At the age of 80, she gave up golfing at the Moncton Golf and Country Club, where she had been a member for more than 50 years. Phyllis also enjoyed music, playing the piano and often accompanying Les on the saxophone. She continued to play the piano well into her later years. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie A Pinder, and three brothers, Wilmot, Ellsworth (Peter) and Bertram. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Dr. Lesley Pinder and several nieces and nephews. Special thank-you to nephew Peter (Helen) Inman, whose help enabled her to remain in her home longer than otherwise, and nieces Judy (Ron) Jodrie and Cathy (Dennis) Mires, for visits and caring. Mention needs to be made of the “West End Sewing Club” which started in the 50s, met weekly at their homes, supported members through 50 years of family life and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. I would like to thank my many friends and colleagues whose company Phyllis so enjoyed at innumerable gatherings and also the staff at Passamaquoddy Lodge who gave such excellent care to Phyllis during her years there.
