Obituary of C. Eleanor Mitchell RN
Eleanor C. Mitchell RN, age 97, of Moncton, NB; passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Eleanor was born in Joggins Mines, NS, she was the eldest child of the late Daniel and Hannah (MacLeod) Coleman.
She graduated from Springhill High, NS and then in 1939 as an R.N. from Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Campbellton, NB. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Moncton, NB.
Eleanor was a skilled knitter and in her earlier years delighted in making sweaters for her brothers and later turned to afghans which are enjoyed by family and friends. She was all so an excellent cook, specializing in bread and pie making.
She is survived by her brother Clyde of Springhill, NS; brother-in-law Alden (Bea) Mitchell, Eastport, NL; niece Nancy and nephew Daniel Coleman both of Ontario, she will also be sadly missed by her many cousins and by a special young lady who was like a granddaughter to her Alexandra Vance.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband W.R. Mitchell, and by her brothers Donald Blair, Elvin, Murray and Harmon Coleman.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton, NB on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 12:30pm until the time of the service.
The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Martin Kreplin officiating.
Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB.
Donations in Eleanor's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
