Obituary of Clifford Arthur Parker
Mr.Clifford Arthur Parker died peacefully on September 24, 2006 at Pro Tem Health Services after a period of declining health in his eighty-ninth year. He was the last of the immediate family of the late Thomas Wheatley Parker and Lilian Mary Price.
He was a graduate of Aberdeen High School in Moncton and the Provincial Teachers College in Fredericton. Prior to his retirement in 1984, Clifford founded his own successful insurance agency in Moncton, Parker's Insurance, now owned and operated by his son, Tom. An avid sportsman all his life, Clifford was a former Moncton Men's Doubles Tennis Champion having learned the game as a young boy at the Pointe du Chene Tennis Club. He was a former member of the Moncton Curler's Association and the Moncton and Magnetic Hill Golf Clubs and,until shortly before his final illness, he bowled regularly with his friends. But his happiest times were spent on his beloved Miramichi River angling for salmon, a pastime which he pursued most of his adult life.
He is survived by his second wife Anatolie, two sons Reid ( Jacqueline ) of Rothesay; Thomas (Susan) of Moncton, four grandchildren, Jeff of Saint John, NB; Greg of Quispamsis; Leslie of Toronto; and Julie of Moncton; one great- granddaughter Kate of Quispamsis, and many nieces and nephews..
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his first wife Phyllis Reid, and by four brothers Frank, Norman,George, and Douglas, four sisters Edna, Hilda, Irene and Elsie.
At his own request there will be no vistation and no memorial service. A private family reception will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home 171 Lutz Street, Moncton NB, on Thursday September 29, 2006 at 12:30 pm, following Clifford's interment in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian National Institute for the Blind or to Donors Choice would be appreciated by his family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Bros.
