Obituary of Eric J. Carter

Eric J. Carter, 76, of Riverview, NB; passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Sylvia M. (Melanson) Carter. Eric was a retired Iron Worker with over 50 years’ service, and was a proud, longtime active member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local #842. Eric loved his Boston Bruins, the outdoors, hunting, fishing in the Miramichi, and working with his hands, from small engine repairs to tinkering on his truck, or building his own creation, The "Half Pint". Eric was a people person, and loved children, entertaining friends, and family, and sharing funny stories. A loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and a union brother, he will be sadly missed by his life partner of 40 years Pat Blakney of Riverview; his children, Tanya Carter and Jim Carter (Nicole) of Moncton, and Chris Dupuis of Halifax; two granddaughters, Aleah and Ellie of Moncton; his siblings, Janet Frizzley of Winnipeg, Leroy, Brenda (John) Hambrook, and Len all of Moncton; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Tisdall and brothers Wayne, Victor, and Gary. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 6 to 8pm. The Funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Father Charles Broderick officiating. Interment will be in Five Points Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Eric's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
