Obituary of Eric Arthur Tobin
Eric Arthur Tobin, age 84, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 in Moncton, New Brunswick. Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Oscar and Gladys (Bailey) Tobin. Eric graduated from St. Mary’s University, Halifax, with a BA, magna cum laude. Following almost sixteen years employment in sales and management with Robert Morse Corporation, in Halifax, Mr. Tobin became an employment counselor with the Canada Manpower Centre in Moncton in 1966. At retirement in 1991, he was Chief, Regional Planning, Manpower and Immigration. For several years, he was a volunteer with Moncton Minor Hockey and Moncton Lions Minor Baseball, serving as coach, coordinator, umpire, and on the executive of both organizations. He was a founding member and treasurer of Family Mediation New Brunswick. He is survived by son Jim (Darlene), Atlanta, Georgia; daughters Shannon (Darrin) Lantz, Chester, NS, Shelagh, Moncton, NB, and Karen (Peter Christiansen), Oakville, ON; and grandchildren Paige, Claire, Sarah, Eric and Sintayehu. He was predeceased by his sister Anna Claire and former wife Doreen Marie (Veinotte).
There will be a small service Monday, March 10, 2014 10am for Mr. Tobin at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, 171 Lutz Street, Moncton, NB. (506) 857-8564 In lieu of flowers, donations made to Moncton Minor Hockey Association or to Ecojustice, 214-131 Water St., Vancouver, BC. V6B 4M3.
