Obituary of Lois Hale

Lois Hale passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on March 10 at the age of 87. Lois was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Wilkins) Wallace and stepdaughter of the late Harvey Richardson. Lois was born on March 2, 1935, in Drury Cove, N.B. She was an excellent student and received both the Latin and French awards at Sussex High School. She met Fraser, the love of her life, and they shared 61 years of marriage. They were members of St. Paul’s United Church. Lois resided at Salvation Army Lakeview Manor in Riverview since September 2016. In 1953 Lois trained to become a Registered Nurse and showed compassion and devotion to her patients for 40 years. Lois worked in the O.R., Labour & Delivery and the Maternity Ward. The new mothers appreciated her so much she often came home with gifts. She was also well respected by her colleagues, who became her Nursing "sisters." She cherished their lifelong friendships and looked forward to attending their annual reunions. Lois showed compassion to stray animals and rescued many cats over the years which brought her great joy. She also loved flowers, especially red roses and she enjoyed being a member of the Westmorland Horticultural Society. She also enjoyed baking and made many desserts to the delight of her family especially her grandchildren! Lois combined her love of flowers and baking by entering the annual Garden Club Show. She received several awards and encouraged her grandchildren to enter too. Square dancing was a shared hobby Lois and Fraser both enjoyed for several years. They also shared their passion of music and Lois even learned how to chord on the piano when she was 58 years old so she could accompany him on the violin. She was a longtime supporter and enjoyed the music and social events of the Sussex Ave. Fiddlers. Lois and Fraser spent many summers at Parlee Beach basking in the sun. They entertained at their cottage by hosting many BBQs. After retirement, they enjoyed the sunshine year-round as they spent many winters in Florida. Predeceased by her husband, S. Fraser Hale, Lois will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Susan (Raymond) Arsenault, Barbara (Ian) Frensch, Brenda (Dana) Richard as well as seven grandchildren: Daniel (Insung), Samuel and Margaret (Chris) Arsenault, Andrew (Jordan) and Luke (Kaitlyn) Richard, Matthew and Peter Frensch and one great grandson, Sterling Richard. The family would like to thank the Lakeview Manor Staff for their dedication and compassionate care Lois received. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church Riverview on Tuesday March 15 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. Her final wish was granted and her remains were donated Dalhousie Medical Science for research. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor or the Moncton S.P.C.A. would be greatly appreciated by the family.
