Obituary of Helen Mary Cormie
It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Helen Cormie (Seeley) at the K. E. Spencer Nursing Home on Sept 9, 2023 at the age of 92 years.
Born in Moncton, NB she was the daughter of the late James Edward Seeley and Katherine Lees Seeley (Hamilton). She is survived by her three sons, Brian, Bruce (Carol) and Jamie (Cheryl); her sister, Willah Wasson and her sister-in-law, Myrna; grandsons, Ryan and Blaine; great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brodyn; several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Russell Herbert Cormie in 1963 and by her special friend, Maurice LaHanky in 2004. Also, her three brothers, Jack, Fred (Pat) and Richard.
Helen was a long-term employee of the Canadian National Railway working in data processing, then with the Canadian National Marine, retiring on March 31, 1991.
Mum was kind, caring and generous. She was an artist and painted many beautiful paintings for enjoyment. She enjoyed painting and decorating Ukrainian eggs which she gifted to many people. She used her talent in making quilts and other crafts. Playing bingo gave her such enjoyment with her friend Lily Laxo. During her retirement, she enjoyed bus trips and travelling to Florida.
The family wish to extend a special thanks extended to Linda Doucette for her quality care for ten years allowing Mum to stay in her home. As well, a special thanks to Maria Vrensen for giving personal time and attention to Mum without being asked.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at Mum’s request. Cremation will take place at Fergusons Crematorium, Riverview, NB and her interment will be at the Lakeville Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB. Condolences may be sent to Brian Cormie, 2042 Rte 134 Lakeville, West Co., NB E1H-1N8.
