It made my heart sad to hear that Viv has moved on to the next leg of her soul journey. Deb, Dawn and Denise, I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Viv was such a wonderful influence, simply by being herself. She was part of the reason I considered myself fortunate to have grown up within walking distance of your home. She was one of the most natural therapists I have ever met... just a brief conversation with her would put a new spring into most people's step. She was marvelous in so many ways, and although she didn't manage to bring about world peace, she did make a noticeable difference to her neck of the woods. The world was a better place because she was here. She will be remembered with many smiles.
Love

To the Brennan/Swazey family,Beth and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies on the passing of Vivien.I had the pleasure of working with Viv at the store for many years( almost 50!!).She always had a smile and a hello for customers, and a great sense of humour!! I’ll never forget Viv sitting on our float for the bicentenial parade- she was definitely in character wearing her old fashion costume! She will be dearly missed.

What a beautiful tribute to Vivien. She was definitely one of a kind and I always enjoyed telling her a good dad joke because of the reaction or walking into the lounge to see her light up the room playing the piano. Her talents and personality will be greatly missed by the Drew's activity department.

You are so right! Nothing like a good dad joke to get a giant snicker out of Mum!! Thank you for sharing that. She loved living at the Drew, but that didn’t stop her from asking “when are we going to Boiestown “. When speaking with your colleagues last week it seems like we were (unknowingly) all in the same page : “how’s tomorrow Viv/Mum? It’s a bit late to go today”. That was always comforting in the moment…. Thank you for all your love and care during her years with you at the Drew.

I remember Viv (Mrs. Brennan) reaching out to me when I first started attending the occasional mass at St. Joachim's Catholic church in Boiestown when visiting and then I would also see her at McCloskey's store; she was always welcoming with a bright smile and a hello. When I moved to the community for a few years and became part of the Altar Society, she was very active with the meetings and activities of the church. I have very fond memories of Viv (and of Dawn who played guitar with me at mass for a while...beautiful singer)! Your family was truly blessed to have her for your Mom and my sincere condolences to everyone and a prayer for your Mom to have eternal rest. Susan (nee Hickey/Greene) Konski.

On behalf of the Case family, please know that our sincere condolences are with you. I, as well as many other fortunate people had the opportunity to work with Viv at McCloskey’s and my mother Liz.
Viv was a beautiful lady without a doubt. She knew how to set the bar high when dealing with the public and she graciously displayed the same with co-workers and friends. I learned so much from Viv during those years and I will forever be grateful.
I asked my mother Liz who is still a part of the “Number 8 Highway Live Information Team” to tell me about the night my father and Joe waited to pick up the ladies from work. On a Friday night, sharp at nine o’clock according to Liz. The reason for the sharpness was due to the fact Dallas also started at nine.
It was a stormy snowy night and Joe and my father both drove silver cars. So, on the clock at nine sharp mom and Viv exit the back door of the store rushing to get to their TV sets. All good except mom gets in with Joe and Viv gets in with dad. Away they go, mom mentions the addition of the cushion added to the passenger seat as not required and when was that put in the car? While Dad and Viv head to our house with Viv questioning why they are heading up the road and not down.
The rest will remain as beautiful memories, rest in peace Viv.

Oh Arden I’m so glad you told that story!! Denise was JUST retelling it as she was informing me about “the information hotline”. Those women… how we loved them and seeing them together and the laughter and stories. I missed out on so much, having moved away at 18, but I LOVE hearing all of tales of their “day to day”. Thank you! Give Liz a big hug and kiss from me!

Mike and I send our sympathy and respect to Deb and Mike and to all members of the Brennan/Swazey family. Through Deb and chance meetings with her sisters, we have come to glimpse some of the stories of love, closeness of family and enjoyment of impish fun and laughter that are so well described in this beautiful tribute to Vivien. She lived a beautiful and full life, filled with faith and joy that comes from giving one’s best and will be dearly missed by so many whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.

What an absolute beautiful tribute to your Mom. I was privileged to know Viv from a very young age, there were many visit with my grandparents Dody and Charlie Pond, then in our school aged years, being at your home with Denise. I loved Viv for her welcoming kindness and gentle ways. We seemed to have a weekly chat at McCloskeys when i lived at home, she always took the time to chat, and ask what o was up to, I’ll cherish these memories if your mom, and pray you find peace in the days ahead knowing what a wonderful legacy she has left for all of you. love Andy P

Andy, I have such great memories of being with your grandparents. They and Mum and Dad would laugh and laugh about things we would have no clue of. I was gone before I got to know you but I know how loved you are by my sister and cousins. Thank you for taking the time to comment. We really appreciate the love and support.

Sad to hear this. I worked at McCloskeys with Viv during the late 70's and early 80's was always one of my favorites to work a shift with. No one who shopped at the store would ever leave without a smile on their face after being helped by Viv. Condolences and Love to the family in this difficult time. RIP sweet Lady

Dear Family members of Viv, what a beautiful story of the woman so many of us knew and loved!
I am only a few years younger than Viv; she boarded at our home when she started working at the store. She always had time for us kids. Later, as teens, we could always count on her, for music, for understanding, for friendship, for believing in us and encouraging us. She was special in many, many ways. I visited her when she was in the little apartment and we shared a lot of fun stuff from the old days. I know a good friend from my past will be waiting for me!

Sister Eleanor you have no idea as to the high esteem you were held in our household. Mum loved and admired you immensely. I’m so glad you got to have a visit or two in the apartment. I suspect there would have been an abundance of laughter as tales of the past were recalled. We were so blessed by Mums faith and dedication to prayer. She prayed constantly and for every need imaginable. I’m sure she’s got a spot saved for you when that time comes.
