Obituary of Michael Thomson

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Michael K. Thomson, aged 71 of Montreal, on Friday, February 23 after a short battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Marlene (Murphy) Thomson; his daughter, Cara Thomson along with her children Carter, Kennedy, and Daisy. Daughter Laura Gangoo, along with her husband Joseph, and children Shea, Harlem, and Wesley; and granddaughter Kiara. And daughter Tina Wedge her husband David and children Theo and Louis. He will also be fondly remembered by his living brothers, Ian and Paul; and sister, Maria. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Donald Thomson, and his brother, Peter.

For 28 years, Michael served as a respiratory therapist at the Extra Mural Hospital, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and patients alike for his compassion and professionalism. Michael had a passion for spending time with his family, embarking on road trips with Marlene, enjoying the serenity of walks, and golfing in the summertime. A founding member of the Moncton Meditation Group, Michael's devotion to mindfulness and community was evident to all who knew him.

Michael was a caring friend, a devoted father, and a reliable presence in the lives of those he touched. His ability to always be counted on, combined with his gentle spirit and generous heart, made him irreplaceable to his family.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre Chapel at 1:00pm. The service will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity for visitation with the family.

Michael's warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and cherished moments.
